WHC Group, one of the leading temporary placement and recruitment companies of the country, expands its activities in Debrecen, Eastern Hungary. Due to the dynamic economic growth, 20,000 new jobs are expected to be created by 2030 in the city.
A statement by the company says the economic activity of Debrecen and its region is developing dynamically, a number of new job-creating investments have arrived and will arrive in the city in the near future, all of which are projected to establish 20,000 new jobs in the county seat by 2030. Responding to the revival of the regional labour market, WHC Group, one of the leading HR services companies of Hungary, being already active in a total of five countries, opens its 9th Hungarian office in Debrecen. In addition to Hajdú-Bihar county, the new branch office will also serve the companies of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg and Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén counties as well.
In the last five years, about 680 billion HUF worth of foreign investment has arrived in Debrecen, as a result of which 6,500 new jobs have been or will be created in the future. Due to this, Debrecen has become one of the most attractive investment locations not only in Hungary, but also in Central Europe. Several international giant corporations have recently announced that they will carry out significant major investments in the city, including BMW, Chinese SemCorp, or Swiss Sensirion. The city has thus achieved an outstanding result in the global survey of fDI Intelligence, the international capital flows and investment division of Financial Times, as it has been included in the TOP 10 list of its best investment promotion destinations, besides New York, Hong Kong or Zurich.
In order to further strengthen the economic development and its central role in the Debrecen region, the city administration has recently accepted the Economic Program developed for the period 2021-2030. Its main objective is to transform the city as the leading economic, educational, transportational, cultural, commercial and health centre of the region with a developed, knowledge-based, high value-added economy within the European Union. The further development of innovative, high value-added industries is at the heart of the economic development. Another goal is to create 20,000 new jobs in the county seat during this period.
„Several factors have contributed to recent major economic development. On the one hand, I would highlight the government’s investment promotion policy, which has created a competitive investment environment. On the other hand, the city and the region have excellent infrastructure and transportation characteristics, and have traditional and abundant education opportunities. The professional cooperation between colleagues of the municipality, EDC Debrecen Urban and Economic Development Center and HIPA is also indispensable as far as the results are concerned. We are more than glad that such a large HR services company has decided to open a local branch office in Debrecen as WHC Group, which is also a great feedback of the work we do” – told Lajos Barcsa, deputy-mayor of Debrecen at WHC Group’s ceremonial office opening event.
The Hungarian-owned WHC Group, being active in Austria, Serbia, Slovakia, and Ukraine in addition to Hungary, has opened its newest office in the civis city in response to the growing labour market needs of companies present or appearing later in the region.
“Serious investments have been and will be carried out in the near future in Debrecen, which will pull the economy of the whole region with them. Thanks to the dynamic development, thousands of new jobs will be created in the coming years, which will fundamentally reshape the labour market in the region. WHC Group is currently working with a number of large companies, mainly in the automotive, electronics and other machinery industries in the region, and we also support the HR activities of several small and medium-sized companies. We considered it reasonable to serve our existing and future customers locally with a local team in the future, thus making our activities more efficient,” highlighted Benedek Tóth, Branch manager of WHC Group.
“One of the cornerstones of WHC Group’s strategy is to serve our clients, as far as possible, directly through our local representative offices in each region, thus ensuring the required flexibility and efficiency. It is a great achievement that we are now opening our 9th Hungarian office in Debrecen, thus further strengthening our decisive role in the domestic market. Our Debrecen office will provide services to our local partners primarily in the field of temporary employment, physical labour placement, student, pensioner, and intellectual labour placement. Our further plans include opening a local office in Veszprém this year, which is justified by the revival of the economic activity in the region,” added Viktor Göltl, MD of WHC Group.
