In December 2020, the UniCredit Foundation launched the second edition of the 'Call for Europe' initiative, supporting social projects for children in the European countries where UniCredit operates. The Group's banks had until the end of February 2021 to nominate projects from local applicants who meet the call. From these, an expert jury of the UniCredit Foundation selected the winning applications, which will receive a total of EUR 30,000 in grants per country.
This year, the UniCredit Foundation has selected 48 projects to be funded in Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Slovakia and Austria. These projects are initiatives to support children's education and learning, to promote inclusion and to provide facilities that meet children's activities and health needs.
As Maurizio Beretta, President of the UniCredit Foundation, said, "the 'Call for Europe' initiative allows us to continuously raise awareness of children's needs across Europe and in doing so encourage our local banks to continue to actively monitor and participate in solidarity projects in their communities. This effort is in line with our common goal of supporting local communities and making a positive social impact in the countries where we are present."
