One of the most important objectives of the Hungarian Interchurch Aid's domestic social assistance work is to create long-term opportunities. The organization wants to implement its opportunity-creation programs in as many of its institutions as possible, and mobility is a fundamental prerequisite for this. This is where Mercarius Fleet Management Ltd. and Porsche Hungaria Ltd.
The mobility cooperation between the partners started with the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement. Within this framework, two passenger cars were handed over, which will be used by the Aid Organization for the next two years to expand its work in creating opportunities. The support will also cover transport and logistical capacity problems encountered by the charity in the course of its work, as well as the provision of additional vehicles in the event of a sudden crisis or force majeure (e.g. natural disaster, war, etc.).
Long-term opportunity programs will give priority to complex skills and capacity building for children and to helping families to integrate into the labor market through programs. A good example of this is the sewing workshop in Vizsoly, a village in Northern Hungary.
In Vizsoly, the 'Presence Point' provides, among other things, the following opportunity support: child development, services to improve the quality of life of the local community, a laundry, crisis management (individual case management, counselling), workshops, skills and capacity building programs, labor market development, continuous professional presence, social work.
As Balázs Németh, Managing Director of Porsche Hungaria Ltd. said, "we consider it very important that as Hungary's largest car importer we play a major role in social responsibility.”
László Rónai-Horst, Managing Director of Mercarius Fleet Management Ltd., stressed that they consider it very important that as a 100% Hungarian-owned company, they actively take responsibility at local level to support the needy and socially disadvantaged.
László Lehel, President and CEO of the Hungarian Interchurch Aid, thanked Mercarius for the support provided by the company in the aftermath of the pandemic and the outbreak of the war.
