Long distance bus service provider FlixBus will resume its service: initially between Budapest and Vienna. Four vehicles will depart daily from both capitals, and some connections will also stop by Győr and Vienna Airport, according to the firm’s press release.
As the company is gradually expanding its route network in line with passenger needs, the green bus service provider continues to rebuild its network in more and more countries, more cities can be reached with a transfer from Vienna.
“After nearly three months of pause, we are very happy to be able to set off again. We are confident that we can bring people closer not only to their destination but also to their everyday lives by providing them with flexible and affordable travel this summer, as well,” regional managing director László Arany said. "Our team has used the recent period, among other things, to develop new hygiene guidelines that will allow travelers to travel safely by long-distance bus in the current situation."
In parallel with the resumption of operations, FlixBus is introducing new, comprehensive hygiene and safety measures, developed in collaboration with experts and authorities. Long-distance buses are thoroughly disinfected after each trip. Entry and exit is only possible through the rear door. After non-contact ticket control, passengers can disinfect their hands on board using a substance placed on the bus. Those waiting at the stops are asked by the company to keep the generally expected distance of at least one and a half meters from each other. Wearing a mask covering the mouth and nose is mandatory for the entire duration of the trip. FlixBus customers are informed about this when purchasing tickets online, together with the purchase confirmation. On-board toilets are not yet available due to special hygiene considerations, but there will be more rest stops instead.
