Nádasdy Castle, which reopened in August 2021, has welcomed its 150,000th visitor. The Tudor-style monument and the 29-hectare park, located in Nádasdladány, 80 kilometers southwest of Budapest, have become an extremely popular new, independent tourist destination, the National Heritage Development Nonprofit Ltd. (NÖF) has announced.
In the framework of the National Mandsion Program and the National Castle Program, the reconstruction of the cultural monument, which was completely renovated in coordination with the National Institute of Natural Sciences, was realized with EU and government funds, they wrote.
Between 2016 and 2023, 18 mansions and 12 castles nationwide have been and are renewed at the highest professional level of monument protection, in accordance with today's tourism needs, NÖF said.
The announcement recalls that the Nádasdladány castle could not function as an independent tourist destination before the complete renovation, but after the reopening, it did not even take a year and a half to welcome its 150,000th visitor.
The castle was renovated to an outstanding standard from the point of view of heritage and monument protection, in recognition of which it was awarded the Construction Excellence Award in December last year, the summary states.
The Nádasdy Castle is one of the most beautiful historicizing, neo-Gothic, Tudor-style mansion in Hungary, surrounded by a 24-hectare English landscape garden with rare plants and a pond. The renovated building and its park, as well as several rooms of the mansion, serve as a worthy backdrop for holding wedding ceremonies, wedding dinners, conferences, as well as literary and musical events. The park may be an excellent and suitable venue for team building trainings, large-scale outdoor concerts, or just a relaxing, exciting walk, NÖF says.
