With the intention to smuggle a little color and joy into the evenings of the residents of the Hungarian capital, the Budapest Festival Orchestra offers a 10-15 minute serenade to selected apartment houses in the city.

As a gift to the residents of Budapest, a few members of the orchestra play to the residential community of the given house, and therefore, the date is not been announced to the public.

The latest free mini-concert was held this Monday evening in an over 100-year-old house of Damjanich Street in Erzsébetváros (District 7).

Tibor Gátay and Csaba Czenke (violin), Ágnes Csoma and Zoltán Fekete (viola), Lajos Dvorák (cello) and Károly Kaszás (double bass) played four pieces of Joseph Haydn’s Divertimento in G major, Hob.II:2: Scherzo – Presto; Allegro moderato; Minuet; and Presto.

"We welcome you with love! Let the music into your home!" - says the leaflet by the orchestra and that is just what the residents did.
