The Presidency of the Association of Hungarian Publishers and Book Distributors has decided to postpone the Budapest International Book Festival scheduled for November due to the currently increasing number of cases of the disease and the gradual deterioration of the epidemic situation, the news site 24.hu reports, quoting the association.
The reasoning is that they cannot ignore the growing health risks, which they say could only worsen by November. Already, several foreign exhibitors have decided not to travel abroad or to participate in mass events, and they cannot meet the 500-person limit for indoor events, and group discussions are difficult to organize.
"The Association's staff have over six months' work behind them in preparing for the International Book Festival, but they agree that the health implications of a multi-day event in a confined space are unacceptable," they write.
