May 20, 2015

May 20 sees the start of the series of events called Italian Festival organized by the Italian Institute of External Trade (ICE) under the patronage of the Italian Embassy in Budapest and in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute.

The festival presents the diversity of Italy and the characteristics of Italian lifestyle for the Hungarian audience for more than a month.

The Italian Festival is held in connection with the ’Day
of the Republic’ Italian national holiday of 2 June and it is a unique
presentation of the "Made in Italy" campaign, which is to present the
outstanding areas of Italian production such as fashion, design and interior
design, food and wine production as well as – thanks to programs organized by
the Italian Institute of Culture – music, the arts and other fields of culture.

Under the program, a series of thematic weeks
illustrate typical Italian "made in Italy" products of a given
sector.

The festival will be opened by the Italian Interior Design
and Design Week (May 26-30), and then, in the framework of the Italian
Restaurants Week (June 1-7), Italian cuisine is the focus of attention. The series
of the programs continue with the Italian Gastronomy Week (June 8 -14) and closes
with the Italian Fashion Week (June 15 - 20).

Enrico Barbieri, the head of the Budapest office of the
Italian Institute of External Trade pointed out at the opening press event –
also attended by the Italian Ambassador Maria Assunta Accili Sabbatini – that in
these weeks, those interested will be awaited with special promotions in major
stores, showroom, restaurants and cafés in Budapest, as well as Italian food,
wines, coffee tastings and many other programs.

One of the special
events will be a cooking school organized for the chefs of Italian restaurants
in Hungary, a course that aims to optimize the use of raw materials and present
the traditional Italian gastronomy and culture.
