Gábor Reisz's film 'Explanation for everything' won the Best Film award in the Horizons section of the 80th Venice International Film Festival, the distributor Cirko Film announced Saturday evening.
The award was received by the director at the closing ceremony of the festival at the Lido.
The distributor said the reception of the movie – the third feature film by Gábor Reisz – in Venice was unanimously positive.
‘Explanation for everything’ paints a realistic picture of a divided country through the story of an 18-year-old boy's high school graduation exam that ends in scandal, Cirko Film said.
The main roles are played by Gáspár Adonyi-Walsh, István Znamenák, András Rusznák, Rebeka Hatházi, Eliza Sodró, Lilla Kizlinger and Krisztina Urbanovits.
The makers of the movie include director and screenwriter Gábor Reisz, co-screenwriter Éva Schulze, producer Júlia Berkes, co-producer Mátyás Prikler, executive producers Viktória Petrányi, Eszter Gyárfás and Judit Sós, cinematographer Kristóf Becsey and editors Vanda Gorácz and Gábor Reisz. The film was produced by Proton Cinema and MPhilms with the support of AVF – Slovak Audiovisual Fund.
‘Explanation for everything’ will be released in Hungarian cinemas on October 5, but will also be shown in premiere screenings from September 22.
