Hungarian bird of the year 2015

According to an internet survey conducted by the Hungarian Ornithological and Nature Conservation Society (MME), the Bird of the Year in Hungary in 2015 is the hoopoe, which finished ahead of the blackbird and the robin in the voting.

The purpose and mission of the ‘Year of the Bird' program - launched by the Hungarian Ornithological and Nature Conservation Society (MME) in 1979 - are the social level presentation of species or bird groups in the protection of which the population or certain groups (farmers, hunters, teachers) play particularly important roles.
