Images between art and nature

The Library, Archives, Collections of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts and the Doctoral School opened a 19th century photo art exhibition in Budapest in order to introdcue to the public studio photographers whose work was largely ignored by photographic historians in the 20th century.

As the norganizers point out, "in our selection, we have tried to give an overview of the entire collection and its aspects, primarily with the aid of photographs that have never been shown in the past. As a result of intervening research, a number of photographs which have been exhibited in the past as well as in the current show have received attributions different from previously, and the list of of photographers whose work is contained in the collection has been substantially supplemented based on more recent determinations."
