Twenty-three musicians from five continents will perform at the second edition of Jazzfest Budapest, part of the Budapest Spring Festival (BTF) until May 17.
This year's series of events are hosted in ten venues. The program has been put together by a team of curators, including internationally renowned Hungarian jazz musicians Tamara Mózes and Kornél Mogyoró, Miklós Lukács (Jedermann), Mihály Borbély (Fonó Budai Zeneház) and Krisztián Oláh (IF Kávézó). "Jazz brings people together, across generations and mindsets. It's what we can create together that counts," according to saxophonist Mihály Borbély.
There will be concerts at the Liszt Academy, the Erkel Theater, the Eiffel Workshop, the Italian Institute and on April 30, on the occasion of International Jazz Day, there will be a half-day of jazz at Madách Square.
"Alongside the Italian Institute, the Czech Center has also backed the festival, both bringing bands to Jazzfest at their own expense, which is a great help to us. All in all, the event has a very strong line-up, it could be held anywhere in the world," the founder of Jazzfest Budapest, Attila Kleb said.
