The Miskolc National Theater in NE Hungary will launch its bicentenary theater season starting on August 24 with the production The Tatars in Hungary, directed by Artur Szőcs, the theater told MTI on Saturday.
In October, the theater will present the operetta The Csárdás Princess directed by Attila Béres, and in December, the play ‘The Salem Witches’, based on Arthur Miller's piece of the same title, will be staged by Gábor Rusznyák. Duke Bluebeard’s Castle, directed by Máté Szabó, will also be performed in December, while the comedy The Borrowed Flat will be staged by Attila Béres in March next year, the theater said.
In September, the chamber theater will present the fairy tale Berzian and Dideki directed by László Keszég, and in October the comedy The Glass Slipper. Máté Szabó will stage Ivanon next March, and the Miskolc Ballet is preparing Anegin, directed by Attila Kozma, for November this year.
The Miskolc theater's bicentenary season was presented at an open-air event to announce the season, with a program for young, old and adult audiences. The event gave visitors the opportunity to see some of the props and sets of the productions and to ask questions of the members of the Arts Council present, the theater said.
