The renewed Nádasdy Mansion in Nádasdladány, Fejér County, was inaugurated this Sunday and the 2,000-sqm building and the 29-hectare garden can be visited again from Tuesday.

The reconstruction of the ground floor of the mansion has been completed, the fungus removal works have been finished, a modern museum shop, a projection room, a café and a museum educational center have been set up. In addition, the basement and the first floor have been converted into operating and service spaces.

After restoration, the original portrait paintings preserved in the Historical Picture Gallery of the National Museum were returned to the Hall of the Ancestors, thus fully restoring the most beautiful prehistoric gallery in Hungary. The family members in the portraits tell their fascinating life stories in animated films.

With interiors that resemble the original – and through modern digital technology –, visitors can learn about the history and daily life of the mansion, use the replica furniture, leaf through copies of newspapers from the period, enjoy coffee and cake in the dining room as if they were guests of the family.

In the renewed park, the dried-up pond has been revived, with boating and model sailboats to try out.

The Nádasdy family built the romantic-style Nádasdladány Mansion between 1873 and the early 1900s. The interior of the castle includes a library room with carved furniture and the Hall of Ancestors, with its elaborately carved wood paneling, wrought-iron ornaments and huge marble fireplace, which houses the family portrait hall.

The mansion and its 25 hectares of landscaped gardens were owned by the noble family until 1945. It was then nationalized and was home to various functions for 45 years.
