British actress Vanessa Kirby was announced this Monday as one of the five candidates for the 2021 Academy Awards in 'Actress in a leading role' for her performance in 'Pieces of a woman' by Hungarian director Kornél Mundruczó.
32-year-old Vanessa Kirby is best known for her portrayal of Princess Margaret in the television series 'The Crown' (2016-2018), for which she won the 'BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Television Series'.
Pieces of a Woman is a deeply personal, searing domestic aria in exquisite shades of grey and an ultimately transcendent story of a woman learning to live alongside her loss.
Honoring movies released in 2020, the Academy Awards ceremony – without on-the-spot audience – will be held Union Station Los Angeles and the Dolby Theatre at the Hollywood & Highland Center on Sunday, April 25, 2021.
