'Silent Friend' Tops 45th Hungarian Film Week

Renowned Hungarian movie director Ildikó Enyedi's latest film, Silent Friend, won the prize for best film at the 45th Hungarian Film Week, as well as the awards for best cinematography and editing, the organisers said late on Sunday, the last day of the festival.

Cinematographer János Kende received the lifetime achievement award, and producer Mónika Mécs was named best producer for her work on Silent Friend and Bence Fliegauf's Jimmy Jaguar.

Bálint Dániel Sós was awarded best director of a feature film for Growing Down, and László Nemes Jeles for the best screenplay for 'The Orphan'.

Szabolcs Hajdú received the award for best male lead for his performance in 'Growing Down' and Andrea Waskovics that of best female lead for her roles in 'The Orphan' and 'Growing Down'.

The festival held in Budapest between February 5 and 8 drew some 20,000 viewers and screened nearly 300 films.
