A music box playing the works of Fryderyk (Frédéric) Chopin and Ferenc Liszt, performed by pianist Gábor Farkas, was inaugurated this Thursday, the Day of Hungarian-Polish Friendship, in Budapest's Városliget (City Park).
The piano was donated to Budapest by the Polish Institute to commemorate the world-famous composers of the two nations.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Budapest, Sebastian Keciek, stressed at the presentation ceremony on Thursday that it was a great pleasure for him to present the gift of the Cultural Institute on the Day of Hungarian-Polish Friendship. He recalled that in Heroes' Square, not far from the City Park, there is a statue of King László I of Hungary and King Louis the Great of Poland, two people who are close to both the Hungarian and Polish nations. These two symbols will now be joined by a third in the form of the smart board, he said.
The Ambassador added that in this time of war, the Polish Institute's activities serve to strengthen relations between the two countries. He said he was confident that this cooperation would further strengthen this friendship that has lasted for a thousand years.
The director of the Polish Institute in Budapest, Joanna Urbanska, stressed that the daily work of the Institute is carried out in the spirit of Polish-Hungarian friendship and cultural cooperation. "Our gift comes from the heart, so I am sure that it will be warmly welcomed by its users," the director added.
Máté Gallai, head of KUUBE Hungary Ltd., the developer and manufacturer of the eco-friendly street furniture, highlighted that the street furniture will feature information on touch screens, with a selection of Chopin and Liszt's works. It is solar-powered, can be used to charge a mobile phone, acts as a Wi-Fi hotspot and displays the UV index, air pressure, humidity and pollution levels.
