The Pulszky Society - Hungarian Museum Association has again presented the awards for the museums of the year and the exhibitions of the year.
Founded in 1996, the annual Museum of the Year award is given by critics as they evaluate the development of museum institutions over the past year and compare strategic results. It was announced this year in two categories: 'large museums' include national museums, national specialist museums and county-level city museums, while 'small museums' include regional museums, thematic museums, museum collections of public interest and exhibition venues.
The Museum of the Year title went to the Ludwig Museum in Budapest. The the institution was selected by a ten-member jury headed by Júlia Fabényi from 12 candidates. It was emphasized that the museum earned the title for "its scientific achievements in contemporary art research, its outstanding performance in publishing museum content, knowledge transfer, its performance in the reception of visitors and the development of museum services, and its role in social responsibility."
In the competition of 'small museums', the Jakab Bleyer Local History Collection in Budaörs became the museum of the year.
