MDTistanbul's contemporary dance performances Rosegarden and Dance Adrenaline will be presented at the National Dance Theater on January 24 and 25 as part of the Hungarian-Turkish Cultural Year 2024, the organizers told MTI on Friday.
MDTistanbul, the Istanbul State Opera & Ballet Modern Dance Company, is coming to Hungary in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Budapest and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey.
The performance Rosegarden, to be performed on January 24, interweaves past and present, electronic music and Sufi traditions. Both contemporary and classical elements appear in the play, from the Ottoman era to an urban café, from the modern man's inner quest to the dervishes in the cloisters, according to the play's description.
The performance is accompanied by a live orchestra and backed by photographs by world-renowned photographer Ara Guler. Rosegarden, which has been performed uninterrupted for 20 years in 2024, is one of the most successful productions of the Turkish State Opera and Ballet, the statement says.
Dance Adrenaline, on January 25, is MDTistanbul's show of five separate pieces, each expressing a unique approach to dynamism and the process of creation. The performance will be followed by an audience meeting.
MTI notes that the celebrations to mark the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Hungarian-Turkish diplomatic relations began on December 18, with a year-long Turkish-Hungarian cultural season in both countries.
