People from over a hundred countries attend the four-day 7th World Science Forum (WSF) in Budapest that opened this Wednesday. Topics on the Budapest conference’s agenda include international cooperation in combatting climate change and natural disasters, recent epidemics and global health hazards they pose.

One of the world's major science-focused events brings together over 600 scientists and decisison-makers and provides linkages between science, industry and politics. The WSF also provides an opportunity for young scientists and researchers to participate in and lead debates.

Since 2003, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences has hosted the WSF in Budapest every second year. Since 2013, every alternative WSF is held in a developing country. The main theme of the 2015 Forum will be "The Enabling Power of Science" reflecting on the way science opens new paths for the improvement of human life, business innovation and policy making.
