The American Chamber of Commerce in Hungary (AmCham) held its 21st Annual General Assembly Meeting December 1 in Budapest. István Havas, Country Managing Partner of Ernst & Young Hungary was elected President and four new members to the Board. An award for the strengthening of US - Hungarian investor relations was also presented.
At the meeting, held at the Budapest Marriott Hotel, reports were presnted by the outgoing president, Dr. Gusztáv Bienerth, Secretary Treasurer Ferenc Pongrácz and AmCham CEO Péter Dávid. A communiqué issued by AmCham says the General Assembly elected István Havas, Country Managing Partner of Ernst & Young Hungary as President.
Four new members were taken onto the Board: William Benkõ, Director of Hárskúti Megújuló Energia Központ Kft., László Drajkó, General Manager of Microsoft Magyarország Kft., Márk Hetényi, Regional Senior Finance Director of Flextronics International and Eszter Szabó, Communications & Public Affairs Leader, Central and Eastern Europe & Turkey of GE Corporate.
The General Assembly also gave a forum for the presentation of the Dr. Iván Völgyes Award which recognizes an individual’s significant contribution to the strengthening of US - Hungarian investor relations. This year the award supported by Synergon was presented to Dr. István Gyarmati, devoted contributor of Hungarian-American relations since the early 80s, founder and the first director of the International Centre for Democratic Transition.
