The Csodalámpa Foundation grants the wishes of seriously ill children, thereby contributing to their recovery, in cooperation with volunteers from GE Healthcare and the Budapest Marriott Hotel.
A jolly, happy day was experienced by seriously ill children from Budapest and the surrounding Pest County on September 19th thanks to the Csodalámpa Foundation and the volunteers of GE Healthcare and the Budapest Marriott Hotel on Margaret Island of the Danube in downtown Budapest. Participants included kids who already had a wish granted by Csodalámpa. One of them was a little girl whose wish was granted on this Saturday by singer LL Junior.
In addition to cooking together a dish in iron kettle on open fire, those interested could compete by pushing the pedal of a four-wheel cycle (bringó) in a hurdle-race, while others took part in learning from handicraftsmen or painting the face. In the afternoon, children were entertained in a colorful music program that included a show by magician Anita Hargitai and her belly-dancer group, a surprise children’s program by Attila Korom and musical pieces sung by the students of the ‘Lakner Bácsi’ children’s theater. A small concert was held by Károly Szecsõdi of the Hungarian talent show ‘Megasztár’ and the sick children were also visited by singer LL Junior who arrived to Margaret Island – as a guest of the Magic Day – at the request of an 8-year-old girl, suffering from an ailing heart, from Tiszavasvári in northeastern Hungary.
The Csodalámpa Foundation has made come true the dreams of over a thousand little patients who received toys, garden swing, bicycle or computer-related things. Many of them were able to visit places abroad or travel by helicopter or hot-air balloon. Several children wanted to have a personal encounter with their favorite singer, athlete or TV series character. The Foundation is able to grant wishes with the help of volunteers and supporters all over the country.
