This year, the Diplomatic Spouses Budapest (DSB) will hold its annual Diplomatic charity fair InterContinental Hotel, November 24th showcasing unique handcrafted products from different countries and presenting unique tastes from all around the world.
The main aim of the fair is to raise money for the local charities that are supported by the DSB, also to create a welcoming and fun family day in the true spirit of the winter season, to present the DSB as organization and to present as many countries as possible.
All funds raised during the Diplomatic Fair will be distributed to the following three organizations:
- The Special Education and Development Institute SOFI (for mentally challenged children);
- The Sisters of Good Shepherd (shelter and educational centre for abused woman and their children);
- The Children`s Home in Esztergom (Educational program for Roma children).
During the Diplomatic Fair, all countries present their national culture in the national or regional stands, where various items like souvenirs, small gifts, packed food, fabrics, jewellery, porcelain could be purchased by visitors.
The Diplomatic Fair Foods and Drinks corner offers a unique chance to taste everything the world has to offer. Last year the Food Corner was an attraction for the whole family; it offered different flavours, spices, and even strange types of food. Visitors are also invited to take part in lottery and raffle to win big and small prizes or to buy some nice clothing or jewellery in the second hand corner.
All items in the second hand corner are donated by diplomats' wives, and it is the most visited spot in the fair. During the event besides music, singing and dance, there will be a Children’s Corner too for the families with children.
