50-60 people (diplomats and businesspeople as well as members of the French community in Budapest) attended the latest meeting of the Diplomacy & Trade Business Club (‘The Club’) that presented the paper’s recent French country focus.
The event took place in the downtown Hotel Nemzeti Budapest, which is a member of the French Accor Group. The hotel (and its history) was introduced by the managing director, Edit Vaszily.
The host and patron of the event was the French ambassador to Hungary, Roland Galharague who outlined bilateral relations while the other speaker of the evening was Balázs Bokor of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry who spoke about the government’s opening towards countries outside the European Union.
Following the speeches, guests could enjoy a French style buffet dinner provided by the hotel and ‘Le Gourmet de Bordeaux’ as well as ‘Royal Cognac’. All this was accompanied by French chansons performed by actress-singer Eszter Kárász and accordionist András Pagonyi.
