The Supervisory Center and Money Museum of the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) hosted a ceremony to mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Hungary and the People's Republic of China. The event included the presentation of a diplomatic medal issued by the MNB to mark the anniversary and the presentation of the book ‘The 75th Anniversary of Hungarian-Chinese Financial Relations’, MNB says in a statement.

According to the press release, György Matolcsy, Governor of the Magyar Nemzeti Bank, praised the uninterrupted development of Hungarian-Chinese financial relations. He stressed that in the midst of geopolitical challenges, key states like Hungary are becoming increasingly important as a facilitator of cooperation between the West and the East.

In his speech, Ambassador Gong Tao thanked the MNB and György Matolcsy for promoting China-Hungary bilateral relations. Over the past 75 years, Hungary and China have actively worked to raise our relations to a level never seen before, he said.

The book presented provides a comprehensive picture of China's financial development and economic rise, Chinese culture and Hungarian geopolitical strategies, among other things. But the book not only covers the past, it also provides important guidelines for the future, including the China strategy, the statement said.

The commemorative medal issued by the MNB is unique (not commercially available), commemorating the anniversary of the two countries' diplomatic relations and their global connectivity, with historical and mythological references and wishes playing a significant role in the lives of the two countries as leitmotifs, the statement said.

To mark the anniversary, three scent pots were planted in the garden of the MNB Supervisory Center and Money Museum, where the ceremony was held. The osmanthus tree is a symbol of lasting friendship, unity and prosperity, and its fragrant and beautiful flowers are admired for their longevity, making them a symbol of lasting bonds, the statement said.
