The Ambassador of Spain in Budapest has handed over the Cross of the Order of Isabel the Catholic granted by King Felipe VI of Spain to winemaker András Bacsó, the former director of the Tokaj Oremus Winery in Hungary.
It was at the proposal of the Spanish Ambassador in Hungary, Anunciada Fernández de Córdova, that His Majesty the King awarded this recognition to oenologist András Bacsó, former director of the Spanish-Hungarian winery Tokaj Oremus. The Ambassador has handed over the decoration this week in a solemn ceremony, with reduced attendance due to health measures resulting from the current pandemic, at the Residence of the Embassy of Spain in Budapest.
In her laudation, the Ambassador said that Spain wishes to recognize in this way the long and excellent career of Mr. Bacsó, who has been several decades at the head of Bodegas Tokaj Oremus, owned by the Spanish company Vega Sicilia. In the words of the Ambassador, Spanish wine is a great promoter of Spain's image. And for this, excellent professionals committed to high quality, such as Mr. András Bacsó, are essential.
András Bacsó attended the ceremony with great emotion, in the company of his family, colleagues, collaborators and Vega Sicilia's directors. In his thank you speech, he emphasized that he felt privileged to have been able to contribute to the reconstruction of the Tokaj Oremus winery and to the salvation of the centenary values of the wine region. This award, he said, is the most important recognition of his life and professional career. He considers that all this work could only be carried out thanks to the Álvarez family, owners of Vega Sicilia, and with the support of the great team that surrounded him all these years.
