The Ambassador of Spain in Budapest, Anunciada Fernández de Córdova has presented the Cross of Officer of the Order of Isabella the Catholic that King Felipe VI of Spain has granted to Péter Tóth, Director of the Spanish-Hungarian company ‘Olmos and Tóth’.

At the proposal of Anunciada Fernández de Córdova, Ambassador of Spain in Hungary, His Majesty the King has been pleased to award Péter Tóth, Director of Olmos és Tóth, S.L., a Spanish-Hungarian company, with the Official Cross of the Order of Isabella the Catholic. The Ambassador presented the decoration in a solemn ceremony at the Residence of the Spanish Embassy in Budapest, according to a press statement by the Embassy.

In her laudation, the Ambassador stated that Spain wishes to recognize in this way the efforts of Mr. Tóth, who made a decisive contribution to saving the ‘mangalica’ breed of pig from extinction, being today one of the most sought after and recognized pigs bred in Hungary.

The company Jamones Segovia, whose owners and directors accompanied Péter Tóth at the ceremony, is in charge of converting the meat of this excellent breed into stupendous hams that are becoming more and more recognized every day, both in Spain and in the rest of the world.

According to the statement, Péter Tóth has made a decisive contribution, in the food and agriculture sector, to the strengthening of relations between Spain and Hungary. In the words of the Ambassador, gastronomy, and especially ham, is a great promoter of Spain's image. “For this, professionals committed to high quality, such as Mr. Péter Tóth, are essential.”

Péter Tóth, who attended the ceremony in the company of his family, colleagues and collaborators, emphasized in his thanks that he felt privileged to have been able to contribute to the salvation of this species with such excellent features. Receiving this award is, he said, the most important recognition of his life and professional career. He considers that all this work could only be carried out thanks to the Olmos family, owners of Jamones Segovia and the Monte Nevado brand.
