The Swedish Embassy in Budapest and the Swedish Trade Council held a conference in the Hungarian capital with the title "Stockholm / Budapest Green Capital" on what a city, businesses and individuals can for sustainable development, the environment.
Besides quality and reliability, environment protection has always been a key issue for Swedish companies. The one day event was a forum where representatives from both the private and the public sector could learn and discuss the latest ideas and practices from Sweden as regards forming an environmental friendly and sustainable city. These practices and ideas helped Stockholm to become Europe’s Green Capital in 2010.
Recognized environmental experts from Sweden and Hungary presented examples in the field of green buildings, energy saving, waste water management and green city transportation. The conference, attened among other by the Swedish Ambassador to Hungary Cecilia Björner and the new mayor of Budapest István Tarlós, was sponsored by the Swedish Embassy, the Swedish Trade Council, Swedish companies and the Swedish community in Hungary.
