In September, share turnover on the Budapest Stock Exchange’s spot equity market totaled HUF 566.6 billion, while the average daily trading volume rose to HUF 25.75 billion. The leading investment service providers remained unchanged, with Wood & Company, Concorde and Erste topping the rankings again in September, according to a BSE press release.
International stock markets were characterized by mixed trends throughout the month. Sentiment on the major stock exchanges in September was primarily shaped by the conflict in the Middle East, developments in the energy market, the outlook for the AI sector, and trends in U.S. monetary policy.
Investors also closely monitored diplomatic developments in the Middle East as well as the meeting between the U.S. and Chinese presidents in late September.
Wood and Company was the most active broker during the month, with double-counted turnover of HUF 369.1bn. Concorde was runner-up with turnover of HUF 310.9 billion, followed by Erste Investment with HUF 169.7 billion.
The BUX closed September at 145,181.93 points, down 2.7% from the previous month. The BUMIX, which tracks the performance of smaller-cap domestic stocks, stood at 9,176.82 points at the end of the month, while the regional CETOP NTR index stood at 3,171.61 points.
