The Budapest Stock Exchange (BSE) share index, the BUX, rose 0.64% compared to the previous Friday's close, ending the week at 126,534.75 points. Total turnover increased from HUF 106.46 billion to HUF 135.24 billion, with leading shares performing mixed.
In its weekly summary, Equilor Investment Ltd. highlighted the 25 basis point cut in the base rate, as reported by the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) on Tuesday. They added that the decision did not cause any significant exchange rate reaction, and the forint even strengthened slightly as a result of cautious communication from the central bank. Based on market pricing, they see the possibility of a further 50 basis point interest rate cut this year, but this also depends on inflation trends.
This week, Magyar Telekom published a flash report in line with analyst consensus, Richter's 2025 results exceeded expectations, and Graphisoft Park and Masterplast also reported outstandingly good data, they added.
In the middle of the week, Richter's share price hit a record high, while Magyar Telekom's share turnover rose spectacularly ahead of Wednesday's flash report, and on Thursday its share price reached a historic high.
On Thursday, however, Richter's share price jumped to another historic high during the day in response to the flash report and managed to close slightly higher despite the deteriorating mood. Magyar Telekom's share price also corrected slightly compared to the previous day.
Among the leading stocks, Magyar Telekom strengthened the most during the week. Its share price rose 9.68% in one week to HUF 2,165, with a total turnover exceeding HUF 11.57 billion.
Richter strengthened by 2.93% to close at HUF 11,940, with weekly turnover exceeding HUF 15.74 billion.
Mol's share price remained unchanged on a weekly basis, closing at HUF 3,528, with turnover of HUF 17.5 billion.
OTP fell 0.86% since last Friday's close to HUF 39,310, with a turnover of HUF 83.67 billion.
The BUMIX index of small and medium-sized shares fell 1.19%, ending the week at 9,866.06 points.
