Construction Output Volume Up 42.3% on Pandemic Base

The volume of construction output in February 2022 surpassed the previous year’s level by 42.3% in Hungary according to raw data published by the Central Statistical Office this Wednesday.

Among the two main groups, output was 56.2% higher in the construction of buildings and rose by 20.0% in civil engineering compared to the February 2021 value. Based on seasonally and working day adjusted indices construction output increased by 13.3% compared to the January one.

In February 2022 compared to the same month of the previous year:
The volume of output in the construction of buildings increased by 56.2%, in civil engineering it grew by 20.0%.

Output in the divisions of construction grew by 69.8% in the construction of buildings, and by 6.8% in civil engineering. Specialised construction activities increased by 40.4% compared to the previous year.

The volume of new contracts concluded increased by 92.7%, within it the volume of new contracts for the construction of buildings was 65.3% higher and the volume regarding civil engineering grew by 128.2% in relation to the February 2021 base.

The volume of the end-of-February stock of contracts at construction enterprises was 19.2% above the end-of-February-2021 level. The volume of contracts was up by 15.6% for the construction of buildings and by 21.7% for civil engineering, year-on-year.
