In order to spread modern electronic payment methods, the government has decided to support the deployment of another 30,000 bank card acceptance points, State Secretary in charge of financial issues in the Ministry of National Development Ágnes Hornung has announced.
The State Secretary
said that the government's aim is to modernize domestic payment
infrastructure, boost the competitiveness of domestic businesses, and reduce
cash inflows that were too high, by promoting the spread of modern electronic
payments.
Ágnes Hornung added that the basis for the modernization strategy of
the domestic payment system is the expansion of the bank card terminal network,
which is a prerequisite for further efforts to strengthen the financial
awareness of the population and promote digitalization in the economy.
With the now announced extension, it will be possible to pay with debit or credit cards at 60,000
points of sale in stores or at service providers in Hungary where this possibility has not previously
been available.
