After a strong start to the year, the leading index of the Budapest Stock Exchange (BSE), the BUX, continued to strengthen in March and maintained its historic high: after a 1.77% increase, it closed the month at 88,686.46 points, the BSE told MTI on Tuesday.
Total turnover on the stock market remained at the February level of HUF 418.7 billion, or HUF 19.94 billion on a daily basis.
The BUX index hit historic highs on several occasions during the month, hovering around the 89,000-point level at the beginning of March, before closing the month at 88,686.46 points. The index reached its highest daily closing level, 92,720.24 points, on the 27th of the month.
Among issuers, the highest demand for OTP shares was also recorded in the first month of spring, with HUF 271.4 billion, followed by Richter Gedeon and Mol with HUF 59.4 billion and HUF 39.4 billion respectively. Among the mid-caps, ANY Security Printing and RÁBA had a particularly strong month, with the former up 26.9% and the latter up 16%.
In the investment services sector, Wood & Company came out on top this time, with sales of HUF 249.8 billion, Concorde was second with a turnover of HUF 223.0 billion, while ERSTE achieved a turnover of HUF 154.4 billion, placing it third on the podium.
