After reaching its lowest point this year in August, the GKI economic sentiment index rose within the statistical margin of error in September 2016. According to the empirical survey conducted by Hungarian think tank GKI with the support of the EU, expectations improved marginally in the business sector, whereas they remained unchanged among consumers.

Although the GKI economic sentiment index has been fluctuating for two years at relatively high levels, its current September level is quite low, the financial website portfolio.hu report.

The business confidence index rose to 1.7 points in September from 1.2 in August; the consumer confidence index edged up to -18.5 points from -18.6% and the economic sentiment index came in at -3.6, a moderate improvement over -3.9 points in August.
