Spot market turnover on the Budapest Stock Exchange (BSE) totaled HUF 565.7 billion in June, representing an average daily trading volume of HUF 25.7 billion; the exchange’s benchmark stock index, the BUX, rose 3.9%, closing the month at 139,892.19 points, the bourse told MTI.
On international stock markets in June, investor sentiment was shaped by the performance of the technology sector and corporate news related to artificial intelligence. In addition, geopolitical developments and trends in the energy market continued to play a decisive role in trading, while investors’ attention gradually shifted back to corporate earnings and the macroeconomic outlook.
Amid a favorable international market environment, the domestic stock market also posted positive performance in June. Investor interest continued to center on leading domestic stocks.
OTP Bank shares again accounted for the highest trading volume on the Budapest Stock Exchange in June: a total of HUF 364.4 billion worth of the stock was traded, representing 64.4% of the monthly spot stock market turnover. OTP was followed by Magyar Telekom and Mol, with trading volumes of HUF 68.2 billion and HUF 61.9 billion, respectively. Among small- and mid-cap companies, CIVITA performed the strongest, with its share price rising 67% during the month.
In the ranking of investment service providers, WOOD & Company took first place in June with a trading volume of HUF 346.3 billion. Concorde took second place, while ERSTE took third, with trading volumes of HUF 250.7 billion and HUF 214.9 billion, respectively.
