Hungary had a EUR 1.305 billion trade surplus in June, widening from EUR 799 million in the previous month, data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Thursday show.
Exports rose 20.9% year-on-year to EUR 14.945 billion. Imports climbed 17.8% to EUR 13.639 billion.
Trade with other European Union member states accounted for 73% of Hungary's exports and 68% of its imports during the month.
Hungary's export volume to the rest of the world increased 11%, while import volume from those countries rose 12%. Hungary's trade deficit with non-EU countries widened to EUR 294 million.
Hungary's terms of trade improved 0.5% during the period as the forint strengthened 12% against both the euro and the dollar.
For January-June, Hungary had a trade surplus of EUR 5.045 billion. Exports increased 8.3% to EUR 81.242 billion and imports rose 10.0% to EUR 76.198 billion.
