Improving but Still Large External Trade Deficit

The value of exports in EUR terms was 12% and that of imports 9.9% larger in December 2022 than in the same period of the previous year. The balance of the external trade in goods improved by EUR 204 million.

Compared to the previous month, the level of export in goods decreased by 16% and that of import in goods lessened by 23%. The external trade in goods increased in 2022 by 19% in exports and by 28% in imports compared to the previous year.

In December 2022:
The value of exports amounted to EUR 11,205 million (HUF 4,559 billion) and that of imports to EUR 11,360 million (HUF 4,621 billion).

The deficit of the external trade in goods was EUR 154 million (HUF 61 billion).

The share of EU Member States (EU27_2020) was 75% in exports and 67% in imports.

In December 2022 compared to a year earlier:
The value of exports increased by 12% and that of imports grew by 9.9% in EUR terms.
