Hungary's trade surplus was EUR 913 million in May this year, up 170 million euros from the same month a year earlier. That is according to the latest figures published by the Central Statistical Office and quoted by the Hungarian news agency MTI.
The first reading data released say exports rose by an annual 18.8% to EUR 8.995 billion while imports were up by 18.4% at EUR 8.082 billion euros. Some 78% of exports and 75% of imports were traded with other European Union member states.
As for January-May, the trade surplus reached EUR 4.271 billion, up by EUR 10 million from the same period a year earlier. Imports rose by 12.3% to EUR 37.829 billion and exports went up by 10.9% at EUR 42.099 billion.
