Output of Hungary's industrial sector fell 2.5% year-on-year in January, a first reading of data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Friday shows.
Output edged 0.3% higher when adjusted for the number of workdays.
Output fell in most branches of manufacturing, with increases in the computer, electronics and optical equipment and the electrical equipment segments and declines in the automotive and the food, drinks and tobacco segments, KSH said.
In a month-on-month comparison, output rose a seasonally- and workday-adjusted 1.5%.
KSH will release detailed data for the month on March 13.
