The volume of industrial production in Hungary lagged behind the one year earlier level by 7.3%, based on working-day adjusted data it declined by 4.6% in August 2025, year-on-year, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) reports.
There was a setback in all but one of the manufacturing subsections. According to seasonally and working-day adjusted data, industrial output was 2.3% lower than in July 2025.
In August 2025:
The volume of industrial production decreased by 7.3% compared to the same period of the previous year. (Compared to the August data published in the first estimate, the data in the second estimate did not change.)
Industrial output – according to seasonally and working-day adjusted indices – was below the previous month’s level by 2.3%.
The volume of industrial export was 9.5% lower than a year earlier. The manufacture of transport equipment export, representing a 26% weight within export sales in manufacturing fell by 17.7%, at the same time the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products export, accounting for a 17% weight, went up by 10.5%.
Domestic sales of industry declined by 7.6%, those of manufacturing decreased by 4.5% compared to the same month of the previous year.
Within industry, production lessened by 7.4% in the decisive weight (95%) representing manufacturing, dropped by 9.2% in the small weight representing mining and quarrying, and fell by 8.9% in the energy industry (electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply) compared to August 2024.
