The Hungarian University of Fine Arts (MKE) has won a non-refundable grant of HUF 804.93 million from the European Union for the development of a complex digital infrastructure.
The long-term objective of the project, which is funded by the EU's Instrument for Recovery and Resilience, is to develop the infrastructure, organization, education, research and development and focus on the growth of the university's own revenue by 2026, the university told MTI on Monday.
According to the statement, the comprehensive infrastructural development will result in a more economical and sustainable university in terms of the courses currently being offered, and the development of the practice spaces for art education will be implemented: workshops, studios, equipment, exhibition spaces, and renewal of the equipment.
“The new venues will also help to organize education more efficiently, improve the capacity of human resources and enable MKE to provide cultural knowledge and skills not only to students but also to the wider society," the statement said.
In order to ensure the proper functioning of the MKE, the project will include the development of digital infrastructure to support practical education/training, the acquisition and installation of digital equipment, the development of digital skills for students and staff, activities related to digital support for training activities, and the expansion, upgrading and development of high and low power and optical cable for the installation of digital equipment, the university said.
The project aims to upgrade the network infrastructure to an optical ring foundation, upgrade the server system and wireless network, and expand/upgrade user equipment by procuring state-of-the-art mobile IT equipment, digital and interactive education tools.
As a result of the development, 700 people will receive digital training and 1,040 digital devices will be installed on campus, MKE said.
