Despite the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic forecast by the government for early this week, matriculation exams are held all over Hungary with police presence to keep order in the classrooms.
According to the Hungarian news agency MTI, 70,577 students began the Hungarian language and literature matriculation exams at the end of their secondary school studies.
In order to curb the coronavirus pandemic, a maximum of ten students may be in one classroom at a distance of at least one and a half meters. All of them are provided with a mask and teachers with gloves.
There has been a nationwide debate on whether the matriculation exams should be held now under these circumstances and thousands of students decided to take it later.
The matriculation exams continue this Tuesday with mathematics.
