The Hungarian Rectors' Conference (MRK) welcomes "Hungarian universities' return to the Erasmus+ program", the MRK said in a statement on Friday, adding that "Erasmus is not simply an exchange program: it means international experience for tens of thousands of young people."
According to the MRK statement, the Horizon Europe program is crucial for Hungarian researchers' cooperation with the best European workshops.
The statement suggested that it had been "unfair to extend a dispute between the previous Hungarian government and the European Commission to non-political players" and said that university professors, researchers and students were "not party to that dispute and could not influence its outcome."
"But they belong to the European community of universities and now they can return as members with full rights," the statement added.
For Hungarian universities reintegration in those higher education programs is "much more than just receiving funds; it provides an opportunity for them to return to European networks in which students and researchers alike should have a place," the statement said.
