E.ON Hungária is spending HUF 8.4 billion on the development of the electricity network in Kaposvár and its surroundings, with the aim of ensuring a long-term stable and secure electricity supply, the group's investments, which started last year and will last until 2026, E.ON informed MTI on Monday.
The group, which operates the electricity networks of Transdanubia, Pest County and Budapest, will finance the works from its own resources, spending HUF 8.1 billion on new investments and HUF 300 million on maintenance and preservation.
This year, E.ON will start expanding its site in Guba Sándor Street in Kaposvár with HUF 1.2 billion, and will build the most modern substation in South Transdanubia in Raktár Street with HUF 5.7 billion to serve the northern part of the city and the newly created industrial park, they said.
A further HUF 600 million will be spent next year to improve the electricity network around Cseresznye Street, with a new low-voltage section being added to the existing network in Körte Street and the electricity network in Egres Street will also be completely renewed, they added.
E.ON recalled that last year the group spent HUF 300 million to improve Kaposvár's electricity network.
In Dési Huber Street, a transformer with a higher capacity was built to supply energy to a multi-apartment building, and the network was extended with a new underground cable over a 150-meter stretch, they noted.
This year, they said, a HUF 580 million development was completed with the construction of a new 9-kilometer underground cable section in Kaposvár's eastern industrial park to supply electricity to Şişecam's glass factory under construction, and more stable and higher-capacity power grid sections were created for the residents of Béla király utca and Ivánfahegyalja utca.
