Solar power accounted for close to 30% of electricity generation in Hungary in the first half of 2025, more than in any other country covered in a global report by international independent think tank Ember, the Energy Ministry said in a post on social media on Wednesday.
The Hungarian figure is more than three times higher than the global average of 8.8%t, while four years ago it was only 11.3%. In order to make even more efficient use of green energy, the government will continue to support the strengthening of energy storage capacities in the future, the ministry said.
Hungary's solar capacity exceeded 9 GW early in September.
