State-owned energy company MVM Group inaugurated a 132/22 kV electrical substation in Miskolc (NE Hungary), built using HUF 2.7 billion of European Union, government and corporate financing.
Energy Minister Csaba Lantos said at the event that rapid growth of renewable sources poses new challenges for the energy grid, so the development of substations is essential.
He noted that the number of household solar panel systems in Hungary is nearing 300,000 with a combined capacity of around 8.5 GW. The share of solar in domestic electricity generation is close to 29%, he added.
MVM Group made substation developments in ten major cities in the past three years, and three investments are being implemented in the Miskolc area.
