ALTEO Plc. has completed the renovation of the Gibárt Hydroelectric Power Plant, which has been operating as a monument for more than 100 years, in order to ensure the further long-term, reliable and economical operation of the power plant.

The company renovated and modernized the power plant with an investment of HUF 1.2 billion, during which it replaced the previous technology with a more powerful and modern one and renovated the listed building: the entire construction took place while preserving the monumental character of the plant.

The main element of the investment project was the replacement of the complete technology (turbine machine groups and their systems) with state-of-the-art equipment with high efficiency and higher water yield: 5.75 GWh / year of electricity production – this is about 70% higher than before.

Preserving the monumental character of the power plant and the building was a priority during the entire renovation process, as ALTEO says it is committed to preserving and maintaining industrial monuments. Due to the epidemic situation, the ceremonial handover of the the Gibárt Hydroelectric Power Plantis scheduled to take place in the spring. Then, the exhibition of the equipment dismantled during the renovation and the listed building and the renovation will also open to the public.

The hydropower plant is the property of the North Hungarian Electricity Supply Plc. (ÉMÁSZ). Based on the agreements concluded in 2004 by ÉMÁSZ and Sinergy Ltd. (a member of the ALTEO Group), the ALTEO Group currently participates in the operation of the hydropower plant as a tenant and operator.
