Sziget Festival Kicks Off

One of Europe's biggest popular music festivals, the Sziget Festival, has kicked off again this year with huge interest - it is is being held for the 30th time. And visitors have already started to fill Óbuda Island, the festival's venue.

This year's festival takes place between August 10 and 15. There will be more than fifty venues, with artists from 62 countries (including almost 200 Hungarian participants) performing in various genres.

On Wednesday, people started to arrive in the early hours of the morning, most of them, of course, spending the whole week on the Óbuda Island in the company of friends and tents. Everybody is trying to get the best, shadiest spots and to cope with the challenges of setting up camp.

The first day's program opened with Foals at 5.30 pm on the Main Stage, and Florance + the machine will be there from quarter to ten. The strong British dominance will not be broken later on, with Bonobo entertaining in the FreeDome tent at dawn.

In the meantime, there is still time to explore the festival's programs, with the Cirque the Sziget circus, the Sziget Eye Ferris wheel, the sports zone and many other interesting events.
