After the bronze medal at the European Championship, the Hungarian team of Renáta Somogyi, István Gaborecz, Sándor Fodor, Zoltán Gácsi, Krisztián Füredi won the bronze medal at the 10th anniversary Gelato World Cup in Rimini, Italy, the Hungarian Confectioners' Association announced to MTI on Tuesday.

According to the information released, the bronze medal at last year's European Championships secured the Hungarian team's qualification for the World Cup finals, which ended on Monday. South Korea finished second in the competition, while the gold medal was once again won by defending champions Italy.

The Hungarian team chose the novel Alice in Wonderland as its theme, which fitted the competition tasks.

During the four-day competition, the teams had to create decorated ice-cream sundaes, ice-cream cakes, ice-cream sundae desserts, three types of hot starters combined with gourmet savory ice-cream, ice sculptures, chocolate artistic decorations, sculptures using grillage and caramel, and a surprise ice-cream with a milk and water base, all based on their chosen theme.

The Gelato World Cup has been held every two years since 2003. The competition brings together confectionery professionals from around the world to raise awareness of the excellence of traditional artisan gelato, to contribute to the professional development of the sector and to showcase the latest trends.
