Fiber-Optic Upgrade for Educational Institutions

A development scheme necessary to respond to exponentially growing data transmission needs between educational institutions and data centers has been won by a consortium led by Delta Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of subsidiary of Delta Technologies Plc. to expand the backbone network.

A major educational IT backbone network development project worth more than HUF 637.8 million has been awarded to Delta Systems, Delta Technologies Plc. a wholly-owned subsidiary of Delta Technologies, Inc. According to a press release by the company, the implementation tasks related to the procurement of transmission network equipment and accessories, as well as the provision of related services, can start after the equipment has been delivered, and the consortium has 120 days to complete the entire project.

Under the contract, the core part of the development will be the deployment of Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) optical wavelength division multiplexing technology to meet the ever-increasing bandwidth requirements between data centers in educational institutions and to support increased network data security and redundancy.

The contract will enable us to provide educational institutions with benefits in terms of data transmission speed, security and cost-effectiveness that cannot currently be replaced by other technologies by deploying fibre optic transmission technology," the Managing Director of Delta Systems, László Vidra said.

The use of DWDM technology enables the exponentially growing data transmission needs to be met without the need to expand existing fiber optic cables or lease new ones. Delta Systems' consortium designs, builds and operates data transmission technologies to ensure the operation of IT networks, connecting networks that are physically separated but logically form a single system.
